Video as an Instrument III performed at Video as an Instrument II on Sunday March 2nd with Andy Graydon at Supreme Trading as Subcarrier, our audio/video performance collaboration. Follow the Subcarrier link for a brief explanation and a sample of a previous video, where all our audio is generated from our video samples in real time. The performances featured many other artists and a gallery show structured around similar concepts. Also on Sunday March 2nd: Bill Etra, Stackable Thumb, dual blur, Lance Blisters, Sam Pluta, and Luke DuBois. DJ North Guinea Hills was in the bar. Video as an instrument is a show with artists working with a synchronous relationship between image and sound. Artists use a myriad of techniques with customized applications and instruments, found sources and samples, and real time performance to create improvised compositions. video as an instrument includes videos, installations, and performances. I created 3 channel, 9 screen audio/video screening of a new multimedia installation for the vBrooklyn festival at Polytechnic University on November 30, 2007. Video footage of: Coney Island, Park Slope, Dumbo, Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace and Kensington (2001-2007). ‘Kilobyte Noir,’ an anagram for ‘I Brooklynite,’ composites historic and modern Brooklyn maps with photos from the borough’s neighborhoods and landmarks to evoke a simultaneous sense of place and time.
